With the slogan “Empower Parents, Enable Breastfeeding”, a total of 224 nursing mothers gathered on Saturday October 5th 2019, at prearranged places in all the cities of Cyprus and breastfed 233 children, conveying a message of support for the importance of cooperation, protection, promotion, and support for breastfeeding.
The event was held for the 13th consecutive year by the Pancyprian Breastfeeding Association “Gift of Life”, under the auspice of the Minister of Health and with the support of Charalambides Christis social solidarity and active giving programme "SYMMETOCHI".
Charalambides Christis has supported the Simultaneous Breastfeeding Day event for 13 consecutive years. As the largest dairy industry in Cyprus, it has promoted breastfeeding over the years, supporting mothers who choose to give their children the priceless gift of breast milk, while simultaneously raising awareness among the Cypriot community of the value and benefits of breastfeeding. The event has been established as a successful practice that attracts nursing mothers and children from all over Cyprus, and was supported within the context of Charalambides Christis fresh milk Plus, which is enriched with +40% natural calcium, vitamins A & D and folic acid, which strengthen the body and contribute to bone health.
The slogan “Empower Parents, Enable Breastfeeding” used for the 2019 World Breastfeeding Week of the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action was chosen to include all the groups of parents in today’s world. Targeting parental support and empowerment is critical to achieving their goals of breastfeeding.
We can all support this process; breastfeeding is a collective effort. To facilitate breastfeeding, we must all protect, promote and support it.
