On Friday, 21 June 2019, our company, through its social solidarity programme “SYMMETOCHI,” carried out, in collaboration with the Municipality of Nicosia, the official handover of the Agioi Omologites neighbourhood upgrade project, titled “Human Neighbourhoods – Agioi Omologites.” The event took place at Platanou Square in Agioi Omologites. Through the SYMMETOCHI programme and with our well-known milk brand as the driving force, the new initiative “Human Neighbourhoods” was launched with the aim of upgrading the Agioi Omologites area, the birthplace of the dairy company in 1945. The project was funded by the Cypriot love brand Charalambides Christis milk, through sales of a collectible packaging edition featuring the main characters from the film “Vourate Geitonoi.” In less than six months, the project was completed in cooperation with the Municipality of Nicosia and the central area of Agioi Omologites was returned to the public fully upgraded. The improvements followed a specially designed plan for the enhancement and beautification of the neighbourhood, including the use of recyclable materials, energy-efficient lighting, benches framed with flower planters and road resurfacing. The neighbourhood of Agioi Omologites is now more environmentally friendly and more welcoming as a residential area, both for its residents and for visitors. More specifically, through the SYMMETOCHI programme and the “Human Neighbourhoods” initiative, the area from the Church of Agioi Omologites to Platanou Square was upgraded both aesthetically and functionally. All materials used are environmentally friendly and harmonise with the traditional character of the neighbourhood. As part of the “Human Neighbourhoods” initiative, Charalambides Christis also carried out artistic interventions on abandoned buildings along the main street of Agioi Omologites.
The popular singer Stavros Konstantinou offered a symbolic musical greeting by performing the well-known song “Platanos” a cappella. The event concluded with a guided tour of the project, followed by a dinner for invited guests at Achilleion.

From his side, the Mayor of Nicosia, Mr Constantinos Yiorkadjis, noted: “Through this generous sponsorship, Charalambides Christis is working alongside the Municipality of Nicosia to improve the quality of life in the historic neighbourhood of Agioi Omologites. The company’s contribution to the efforts aimed at carrying out environmental enhancement projects in the central area of Agioi Omologites is particularly significant.”
