On Wednesday, April 17th, 2019, the inauguration events of the Greek and Philanagnosia Classrooms took place at Agias Varvaras Local Gymnasium, in Nicosia as well as at the Gymnasium of Kalogeropoulos, in Limassol.
The classrooms were created following the awarding of the students of these schools, within the context of the Pancyprian Educational Competition "School Community Readers", which was announced by the Ministry of Education and Culture in collaboration with Charalambides Christis Social Solidarity Programme "SYMMETOCHI" and its practical contribution. Specifically, the cash prizes received by the winning schools of the Pancyprian educational competition were used in accordance with the suggestions submitted by the schools themselves, for the creation and provision of full technological equipment of the Greek and Philanagnosia classrooms, in order to promote philanagnosia and for education to be carried out with modern and interactive methods.
In her speech, the headmistress of the Local Gymnasium of Agias Varvaras, Mrs Fotini Panteli said that "such activities contribute promotion and development of integrated personalities that will make our students responsible active citizens.
Mrs Tula Silgyrou, the headmistress of the Gymnasium of Kalogeropoulos said that "With the Greek and Philanagnosia classroom, students can work together at the level of investigating and searching for information, to develop critical thinking skills using Educational Multimedia Applications ".
Addressing the events, the Marketing and Corporate image manager of Charalambides Christis, Mrs Soteroulla Soteriou stressed that: "April 17th is a day for all of us to take part in this school action, as it takes flesh and bones to reach the goal of receiving this competition award. The Greek and Philanagnosia Classrooms have finally come true and are delivered to students so that through modern methods to promote love for knowledge in the field of education, especially, ‘’SYMMETOCHI’’ supports all students in the development of critical thinking, creativity, and collective cooperation which this will contribute and fully equip the students in order to participate actively in the community. With people being the focus, SYMMETOCHI keeps going forward and, here, in Charalambides Christis, we are committed to continue working with vision, faith and consistency in our values to offer the best we can and do the best for our country, Cyprus."
In his speech, the Minister of Education and Culture mentioned that: "The fully renovated classrooms is a reference point for the school, as it has been formed in a way to be rich in stimuli and environmental experiences, suitable for strengthening the teaching work that is done by teachers every day and maximizing the active participation of children in the learning process.”
