Monte Cristo Sandwich
Ingredients
• 3 slices of bread
• 2 Charalambides Christis Mozzarella Cheese Slices
• 2 Charalambides Christis Edam Cheese Slices
• 2 slices ham
• 2 tbsp Charalambides Christis margarine Original
• 1 tbsp strawberry jam
• 1 strawberry, halved
• A little powdered sugar (for dusting)
For the omelette:
• 2 eggs
• 1/3 cup Charalambides Christis milk
• Salt
• Pepper
Instructions
1. Lay the three slices of bread on the counter. On two of them, place one slice of mozzarella, one slice of ham, and one slice of Edam. Stack these two slices together, then cover with the third slice of bread to form a triple-layer sandwich.
2. Heat a medium frying pan over medium-low heat and melt the margarine. Place the sandwich in the pan and press gently with a spatula. Cook on each side until golden brown and crispy.
3. Remove from the pan, slice diagonally, then return both pieces to the pan with the filling-side facing down. Cook for about 20 seconds.
4. Arrange the two sandwich halves on a plate, stacking one over the other. Add the strawberry jam between them, place the halved strawberry on top, and dust lightly with powdered sugar.
5. Whisk the eggs with the milk. Pour into a non-stick pan over medium heat. Season with salt and pepper. Once cooked, roll the omelette into a cylinder and slice it into small round pieces.
6. Add the omelette rounds to the plate and serve alongside the Monte Cristo sandwich.
