Oven baked Mac and Cheese with Charalambides Christis fresh milk 1.5% fat
Ingredients
- 400 g short pasta
- 1 liter Charalambides Christis fresh milk (1.5% fat)
- 80 g butter
- 80 g flour
- 350 g grated mixed cheeses (4-cheese blend)
- 200 g grated mozzarella cheese
- Salt & pepper
- A little nutmeg
For the topping:
- 2–3 tablespoons breadcrumbs
- 1–2 tablespoons Parmesan cheese
- A few cubes of butter
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 190°C (375°F).
Boil the pasta in salted water for 2 minutes less than the time indicated on the package so it stays al dente, then drain well.
In a saucepan, melt the butter and add the flour, stirring constantly for 1–2 minutes until a smooth base forms without lumps.
Gradually pour in the milk, whisking continuously until the sauce thickens and becomes velvety and creamy.
Add salt, pepper, and a little nutmeg to enhance the flavor.
Add all the cheeses and stir until they melt completely and create a rich, smooth, and aromatic sauce.
Add the pasta to the sauce and mix well so it is evenly coated.
Transfer the mixture to an ovenproof dish and spread evenly.
Sprinkle the breadcrumbs and Parmesan on top and add a few cubes of butter for extra flavor and a crispy crust.
Bake for 20–25 minutes until golden brown and crispy on top.
Let the dish rest for 5 minutes before serving so it sets and is easier to serve.
